In the eyes of a child!!!

Why are they scarred, when they should have been hugged?
Why steal their dreams and turn each day into a nightmare?
Why ruin their tomorrows and tie them down in their past?

Those eyes that should reflect joy,now only know pain.
Those eyes that should reflect trust, now only know fear.
Those eyes that should reflect love, now only know shame.

If I was there, would I have known her pleas?
If I had listened, would I have heard her screams?
If I had looked would I have seen her scars?

I would like to believe I could try!
To know ,to hear ,to see!
So I could help put back love in the eyes of this child!

that is a high calling...too many eyes have grown dull far too early in life...and we need more people to put the smiles back...

I know. But I would like to believe there are still lots of good people around willing to lit up those dull eyes, again.

There's two of us already and still counting up.

I grew up along side a beautiful little girl used for someone else's pleaseure--a family friend and elder in our church, a youth group leader--and never knew until we were late in our twenties, and she getting ready to have her own baby girl. I still get angry and question why? I used to blame God, and couldn't understand how He can watch and let this happen. But I have learned to see how all good things are opposed, and God has given it unto to man to choose His ways--most don't. When we do, He reaches down with grace to heal and enable us. The scarred one I know is healing, and learning to sing...and oh, the beauty of her song.

I enjoy reading your poems. Blessings here.

That is so beautiful. There is nothing worst than to steal the joy from a child's eyes.

Beautiful, my dear. To me nthing is more hurtful in life than the cry of a child. I cannot understand mothers(and fathers) who don't pay attention or don't take enough care...
That sadness and fear is there for life
:(
Amazing poem

Awww, this is heartbreaking. Innocent children abandoned, abused, neglected...it's beyond heartbreaking. And it's a beautiful thing to extend a helping hand.

Yeah, devastating. And to think it is the duty of grown ups to protect them, not harm them.

It is.If only there is a way to totally heal them. But I hope a simple hello could help lighten their days!

I know and it hurts that nobody was there to protect them.

Difficult truth, so painful to even attempt to understand. But, I know One who could create a world out of an abyss, the human body out of clay, beauty from ashes, and joy from mourning. I must still believe that it's never too late for the healing of a child's heart. The very thought of that not being a possibility would rob me of my own child's heart. Must hope. Thank you for sharing June.

And I agree with you.It is painful enough to know that there were children who have to suffer in the hands of those that should have been their protectors in the first place. But to give up hoping taht there is a way for them to heal is truly heartbreaking.

I wish I could do more!
