The Wait!!!

Behind the smile,sadness dwells.

An empty soul that can not find its rest.

Behind the strength,weakness dwells.

A heart that seeks to find love at its best.

I've given love with utmost selflessness.

I guess I even made the angels restless.

But in the end I find myself defenseless.

To life's realities that bringforth loneliness.

With every hello and every goodbye a pain remains.

Like a dark shadow it fills my soul with emptiness.

But with hope and faith my heart longingly waits.

For that one love that will pull me out of this nothingness.

The first line strikes a cord with me. I spent a llot of my life hiding behind a smile that wasn't real, hiding the pain. I can say it's real today, and I wear it almost all the time.
Nice poem, about the search for that true love that will complete you. Well done!

I'm so happy for you,Charles.Sometimes I wonder if I ask too much of life.Thank you so much for the compliment.I'm glad this piece turned out good. For my works are truly the reflection of my soul.

This is so touching, there is a fine hurt but it is beautiful. They say the true art of the artist does not shine unless they have experienced the pain it presents. I hope that you are doing good.

I guess you're right,Munir.Sad but true.Pain does tend to bring out the best in writers or artists.Happiness does, too. But I guess one can only understand pain if one had felt it one time or another.

Oh Yes... you will find what you desire most as the universe than conspires to give you what you yearn for so longingly... Wish when you have, you have the eyes to see it..
